Information in this article will be in reference to the Affiliate side of the platform, as well as the Lead Gen portion. All Lead Gen information will be noted as such.
Vertical Card > Home > Info
Name: This is the name of your vertical. You have the ability to change the name of your vertical at any time. Simply make your changes and then click Save.
Category: Every vertical is associated to a vertical category. Vertical categories can be used to provide a broader description of your offers to the affiliates within the Affiliate portal. By default, affiliates can search offers by vertical but you can change this to vertical categories within Setup.
Redirect Offer: This is where you can define a redirect offer for any traffic within this vertical. Traffic will only redirect to the vertical redirect if there was not a redirect offer defined at the campaign or offer level.
Vertical Card > Routing Information (Lead Gen)
Margin Control: This checkbox sets a threshold for revenue to be made on a lead in order to sell it.
Tie Favors Exclusive: This checkbox sets the priority between an exclusive buyer and a group of non-exclusive buyers willing to purchase the lead for the same price.
Router On: This turns on the routing of leads to buyers.
Resell Limit: This sets the maximum number of non-exclusive buyers that a single lead can be sold to.
Expiration Hours: This sets the maximum time since submission, in hours, that a lead can stay in the Queue before it is considered expired and sent to the Scrub Queue.
Sweeper Partners: This sets the number of buyers needed before a buyer contract can act as a Sweeper on a lead; this allows a buyer contract to purchase a lead after it has been multi-sold a certain number of times, usually at a discounted price.
Minimum Lead Age: This sets the minimum time since submission, in minutes, that a lead must be to be eligible to sell to buyers.
Maximum Lead Age: This sets the maximum time since submission, in minutes, that a lead must be to be eligible to sell to buyers.
Delivered % Weight: OPTIONAL: Please enter a value between 0 and 1; this allows daily Buyer Contract Price Weighting based upon the percentage of leads delivered versus cap to a specific buyer contract.
Post Error % Weight: OPTIONAL: Please enter a value between 0 and 1; this allows buyer contract price weighting based upon the number of post errors a specific buyer contract has per day.
Response Time Weight: OPTIONAL: Please enter a value between 0 and 1; this allows daily buyer contract price weighting based upon the average response time of a specific buyer contract.
Vertical Card > Home > Posting Doc button (Lead Gen)
Clicking on the Posting Doc button will open a new tab in your browser where you are able to view the posting doc created for this vertical.
Posting documents are built in the vertical as the information that you are collecting should be relevant to the industry your offers are in.
There are 3 possible variations of the CAKE posting document.

Vertical Card > Offers
Name: This column will display a list of every offer categorized within this particular vertical. The icon to the left of the name will represent the status of the offer, which can also be seen in the status column. You can click on the name of the offer to open up the Offer card.
Advertiser: This column will display the related advertiser to each offer. The colored dot to the left of the advertiser indicates the advertiser's status. You can click on the name of the advertiser to open up the Advertiser card.
Type: This is the status related to the offer. In the example above, you'll see offer types of 3rd Party as well as Hosted and Host-N-Post. (Hosted and Host-N-Post are offer types related to the Lead Gen side of the platform)
Status: This will display the status of each offer. Offers can be set to Public, Apply to run, Private and Inactive.
Link: This is a hyperlink connected to the preview URL set for each offer.
SSL: This column indicates whether or not the offer has the SSL feature enabled. A green dot will indicate that SSL has been enabled. A red dot will indicate that SSL has not been enabled.
Created: This will indicate the date the offer was created.
Delete button: The red icon is the Delete Button. This will allow you to delete individual offers.
Add Offer: Clicking this button will open the Add Offer wizard where you can create a completely new offer that will be associated to this vertical.
Export: Clicking this button will allow you to export the offer grid that you are viewing in this tab.
Vertical Card > Fields (Lead Gen)
The Fields tab will contain the Vertical's Basic Fields. These are the most common fields that are typically collected on a form. It is extremely important to understand that basic fields are shared across ALL verticals. Deleting a basic field in one vertical will delete it in ALL verticals. Similarly, editing the field name will change in ALL verticals.
New fields, however, can be added and removed without any consequence to other verticals.
Vertical Card > Fields > Adding a Field (Lead Gen)
To add a new vertical field simply click the Add button.
Label is the explanation to the affiliate of the field you are collecting. It CAN contain spaces.
Name is the exact syntax of how the lead will be submitted to CAKE either from a form or from your affiliate’s server. It CANNOT contain spaces. Instead, words are separated by an “_”. (Example: new_field)
Group Fields is a way of receiving 1 field but is being sent into CAKE as multiple fields. Phone Number is usually collected in 3 separate fields but will ultimately build 1 field called “home_phone”. The affiliate or form may post the fields into CAKE as such: home_area,home_prefix,home_suffix. CAKE will group the 3 fields and make 1 field.
CAKE supports 5 Data Types:
String: A string will receive any text sent to CAKE. You can apply a maximum length to a string.
Date: A date should be used when your form or affiliate is posting a date.
Number: A number is similar to a string except CAKE can create validation or filters using math.
List: A list allows for a custom list of values to be built. Any value other than what is on the list will now be accepted into CAKE. Values on a list can also be mapped to a specific value the buyer requires.
Bool: A bool (or boolean) will accept a value of 1 or 0. It will also accept yes or no.
Maximum Length allows you to place a cap on how many characters are being sent in either a string or list field.
Show In Reports allows you to choose whether the new field should be in the lead detail reports.
Hide From Buyer will not show the new field to the buyer in the Buyer portal.
Vertical Card > Custom Fields (Lead Gen)
Custom Fields are fields that are computed from other fields in the vertical. For example: if you had a number field called "amount", you could create a custom field called half_amount with the formula #amount#/2 which would be computed automatically for you.
To add a custom field click the Add button and proceed creating the custom field, adding the Label, Name, Formula and the Data Type for this field as outlined on the previous step.

Vertical Card > Upsells
Offer: This is the upsell offer that CAKE will redirect to once a consumer converts on the original offer and returns to the same tracking link.
Creative: An upsell offer requires a creative, even though the creative may not be displayed to the consumer. Creatives are required for the redirect URL. (Upsell images MUST be an image creative)
Direct Link Only: You can create a link directly to the upsell offer. The link would follow this format: http://[yourtrackingdomain.com]?uo=PARENTOFFERID&c=CHILDOFFERCREATIVEID
Order: You may have several upsell offers listed. CAKE will redirect a consumer to the first upsell in the list and continue to redirect the consumer to each subsequent upsell offer based on the order defined. This will allow you to change the order of your upsell offers.
Actions: This will allow you to change the order of your upsells after you have added two or more. You will be able to select which upsell offer you would like to show to converted users first.
Edit Upsell: This will allow you to edit the upsell that you have highlighted in the list. You may want to change the creative, for example.
Add Upsell: This will allow you to create a new upsell.
Vertical Card > Filters (Lead Gen)
Filters at the vertical level can be used to determine whether the affiliate is paid or not on specific leads.
To add a filter click the Add button.
Select the type of filter you are wanting to implement from the drop down in the Filter column.
Depending on the type of filter you are looking to implement the value(s) column will contain the relevant data.
The example above shows a filter that is saying that the State the lead is from must equal California or Arizona.
Where to create filters (Lead Gen)
Filters are created by going to your main Setup tab > Filter Types subtab > Add button
Filter Type Name: This is what you want the filter to be called and how it will show to you when you're selecting filters on your buyer contract.
Lead Field: This is the field from your vertical that you want CAKE to look at when filtering the leads. Ex: if your filter is set for the Minimum Debt Amount, you will want CAKE to look at the number that came in on the loan amount field when the lead was posted in.
Operator: The operator is the operation you want CAKE to perform. For example: if your filter was for Minimum Debt Amount, your operator would be "greater than or equal to." You can then say the Minimum Debt Amount has to be Equal to or Greater Than $50,000.?-Note that you have Operator options for Numbers, Lists and Strings. This will refer to your field on the Vertical, and what type of field you're collecting.
Vertical Card > Lead Tiers (Lead Gen)
Lead tiers are unique payout groups that can be applied at the vertical level and managed at the offer or campaign level for ultimate flexibility and control.
Lead tiers will place incoming leads in separate buckets, allowing for different payouts based on the data within the lead.
In the example above I've clicked the Add button and created two tiers for leads in the Gender field. Male leads have a lower payout than the female leads as this is the fashion vertical and we are assuming women are more likely to do more fashion related shopping.
Vertical Card > History
Notes: CAKE allows you to save free-form notes that can later be searched within the main search bar.
Search Contacts: All items saved in your history will be associated to a contact within your system. You can search for specific entries based on the contact.
All Actions: This drop down will allow you to filter history items by the type of action that you can see in the summary column.
Type: This will display where the change was made. In the example above, the history was associated to the vertical.
Item: This will display the specific Item within the Type. In the example above, "Fashion" is the specific "vertical" effected. This hyperlink can be clicked on to open the unique card.
Summary: This column will summarize the action that has taken place. (The details of the action will be defined in the yellow note to the far right)
User: This column will identify the user who created the action.
Date: This is identifying the date the action took place.
Note Icon: Hovering over the yellow notepad will display the full action in detail that occurred. The summary in our example above says "Entity was added", where the note will include all details around the action such as vertical name, vertical category etc.
Export: The export button will allow you to export all details of the history.
