Gmail Settings

Settings within Gmail will need to be configured so that Gmail is able to function as an SMTP relay for mail from your CAKE system.

You will need to enable an application specific password (the regular password used to login to Gmail WILL NOT WORK).  First, follow the link provided below.

https://www.google.com/settings/security

An app password must be generated and this password will be entered in the CAKE system as the Mail Server Password.  NOTE: 2-step verification must be setup for app password generation to work.  To enable 2-step verification navigate to the Security_Sign-in box.

Once 2-step is setup, you must click on “Settings" for App Passwords and then generate a new password.  Once generated, enter this password in the Mail Server Password field in your CAKE system email configuration.  Select "Other" (on select app dropdown) and create a custom name.  CAKE for example.  Then click generate.

A 16 digit password will be generated and once done, enter this password in the Mail Server Password field in your CAKE system email configuration.

You will need to enable both POP and IMAP in the Gmail settings under “Forwarding and POP/IMAP.”  To turn this on click on the Setting dial in the top right corner (from the mail.google.com screen), click settings and then select "Forwarding and POP/IMAP"  Select "Enable" for both POP and IMAP.

Once complete, allow 10-15 minutes for propagation before sending emails from the CAKE platform
