Billing & Payments in CAKE

This article will cover the following:

Invoice Lifecycle

Every invoice in CAKE moves through four stages before money changes hands.

1
Draft — The invoice has been generated but not yet submitted for review. Amounts may still be adjusted. Neither party is committed to the figures yet.
2
Pending — The invoice has been submitted and is awaiting approval. No payment is processed while an invoice is in the Pending state.
3
Approved — The invoice has been reviewed and confirmed. For affiliates, payment will be queued for the next payment run. For advertisers, your account will be charged or a payment request has been issued.
4
Paid — Payment has been sent (affiliates) or received (advertisers) and the invoice is closed. Download or print it at any time from your invoice history.
Tip:
To find your invoices, log in and navigate to Billing > Invoices. Filter by status, date range, or invoice number.

Payment Methods and Setup

For Affiliates — How You Get Paid

Before you can receive a payment, you need a valid payment method on file. Supported options typically include:

  • PayPal — Provide the email address linked to your PayPal account. Payments typically arrive within 1–2 business days after processing.
  • Wire transfer / ACH — Provide your bank name, account number, and routing number (or SWIFT/IBAN for international). Processing takes 3–5 business days.
  • Check — A physical check mailed to your address. Allow 7–10 business days for delivery.
  • Other methods — Some networks offer Payoneer or direct deposit. Check with your network manager.

To add or update your payment method, go to Account > Payment Settings and complete all required fields.

Caution:
Make sure your payment details are accurate before the billing cycle closes. Payments sent to incorrect account information may be delayed or lost, and recovery can take several weeks.

For Advertisers — How You're Billed

  • Prepay / credit balance — You deposit funds in advance. CAKE deducts charges as conversions occur. When your balance drops below a threshold, you may be prompted to top up.
  • Net terms billing — You're invoiced at the end of each billing period. Payment is due within the agreed timeframe (commonly Net 15 or Net 30).

To view or update your billing information, go to Billing > Billing Settings.

Billing Cycles

CycleHow it worksCommon use case
WeeklyInvoice generated every 7 days on a set day.High-volume affiliates or advertisers who need frequent reconciliation.
Bi-weeklyInvoice generated every 2 weeks, typically on the 1st and 15th.Mid-volume partners who want regular but not constant billing.
MonthlyInvoice generated once per month, typically on the last day or 1st of the following month.Standard for most networks and advertisers.
On demandAffiliate requests payment manually when their balance meets the minimum threshold.Affiliates who prefer to control payment timing.
Tip:
Not sure what billing cycle you're on? Go to Account > Payment Settings (affiliates) or Billing > Billing Settings (advertisers) to see your current cycle.

Minimum Payment Thresholds

A minimum payment threshold is the lowest balance you need to accumulate before a payment is issued. If your earnings don't reach this amount by the end of the billing cycle, your balance rolls over to the next period.

  • $50 for PayPal payments
  • $100–$500 for wire transfers, depending on the network
  • $50–$100 for check payments

Your specific threshold is set by your network. To see your current threshold, go to Account > Payment Settings.

Caution:
Some networks have a dormant account policy where small unpaid balances may expire after a period of inactivity (commonly 12 months). Check your network's terms and conditions.

Currency and Tax Class Settings

CAKE supports multiple currencies. Your account currency is set by your network and appears on all invoices and reports. To confirm your currency or request a change, contact your network account manager.

Tax class settings, where applicable, are configured at the advertiser or network level and may affect how revenue and payouts are reported for accounting purposes. Contact your account manager if you need adjustments for tax compliance.
