Managing Affiliates in CAKE

This article will cover the following:

What Are Affiliates in CAKE?

Affiliates are the publishers and partners who promote your advertisers' offers and drive traffic to them. Each affiliate gets their own account where they can browse available offers, grab tracking links, and check their performance stats.

Note:
Affiliates only see the offers and payout rates you explicitly share with them. They cannot view other affiliates' data, advertiser details, or your internal margin.

Affiliate Signup and Approval

Option 1 — Affiliates Apply Through Your Signup Page

1
The affiliate visits your network's signup URL and fills out the application form.
2
CAKE creates a new affiliate account with a status of Pending. You'll receive a notification that a new application is waiting for review.
3
Log in to CAKE and navigate to Affiliates. Filter by Pending status to review their details, traffic sources, and any notes they've submitted.
4
Approve or reject the application. Approved affiliates are sent a welcome email with their login credentials.

Option 2 — Add an Affiliate Manually

1
Go to Affiliates > Add New Affiliate in your CAKE dashboard.
2
Fill in the affiliate's contact information, company name, payment details, and any internal notes. You can set their status to Active right away.
3
Save the record. CAKE will generate login credentials that you can share directly with the affiliate.
Caution:
If your network has auto-approval turned on, affiliates who complete the signup form will be activated immediately without a manual review step. Check your network settings if you want to require manual approval for all new applicants.

Affiliate Statuses

StatusWhat it meansCan log in?Can run offers?
PendingApplication submitted, awaiting your reviewNoNo
ActiveApproved and in good standingYesYes
InactiveAccount exists but dormant; affiliate cannot log inNoNo
RejectedApplication was declined during reviewNoNo
SuspendedAccount temporarily blocked, usually for a policy issueNoNo

You can change an affiliate's status at any time from their account record. Changing from Active to Suspended immediately cuts off their access without deleting any historical data.

Setting Payouts and Offer Access

Affiliates don't automatically have access to every offer on your network — you grant access on an offer-by-offer basis and set the payout they'll receive for each one.

1
Open the affiliate's account and go to the Offers tab, or open the offer itself and go to its Affiliates tab.
2
Add the affiliate to the offer. You'll be prompted to set a payout type and amount for this specific affiliate-offer combination.
3
Choose a payout type — CPA (cost per action), CPC (cost per click), or CPS (cost per sale). Enter the payout amount.
4
Save. The affiliate can now see the offer in their dashboard and generate a tracking link for it.
Tip:
You can set a default payout on the offer itself, then override it for individual affiliates who have negotiated different rates. The affiliate-level payout always takes priority over the offer-level default.
Caution:
Lowering an affiliate's payout without notice can damage the relationship. Communicate payout changes in advance and confirm the change is intentional before saving.

Affiliate Tiers

Affiliate tiers let you group affiliates into categories — Gold, Silver, Bronze — and apply shared settings to everyone in the same tier. This saves time when you want to give a whole group of affiliates access to the same offers without configuring each account one by one.

  • You create tiers in your network settings and give each one a name.
  • Each affiliate is assigned to one tier at a time.
  • Offers can be made available to an entire tier, so any affiliate in that tier automatically gets access.
  • Tiers can carry default payout rates, so newly added affiliates inherit those rates without manual setup.
1
Go to Settings > Affiliate Tiers and click Add Tier. Give the tier a descriptive name.
2
Configure default settings — which offers are visible to the tier, what default payout structure they receive.
3
Assign affiliates to the tier by editing their individual account records and selecting the tier from the dropdown.
