Understanding the Difference Between Hosted and Host-n-Post Offers

This article will cover:
  • Concept of Each Offer Type
  • Default Logic, how affiliates get paid
  • Lead distribution
  • Deduplication
  • Validation
  • Testing

Hosted Offer Type

The Concept:

Hosted Offers are intended for use when you want to explore the most options for monetising a lead, and are happy to keep the user on your site after form submission. For example, you can then try to Upsell the user to additional Offers. The process of selling the lead can therefore take time to complete. Leads failing validation can be sent to the Review Queue, where you can manually assess them before approving or rejecting them for sale to Buyers.

Defaults:

Affiliate payment is defaulted to pay for all Sellable Leads regardless if the lead sells successfully or not.

If a lead does NOT sell successfully at the time of post, Hosted offers will leave leads in Queue. In this scenario, the affiliate would be paid, while the lead sits in Queue to find a buyer that will purchase the lead. We will try to sell for 72 hours before sending to the Scrub Queue (Vertical default setting).

Deduplication:

Leads posted on Hosted offers will deduplicate on the Vertical level.

Validation:

If quality control is a priority for you, then the Hosted offer type will allow you to validate the lead information both in real time on the page (via the AJAX Browser Post implementation) or by manually reviewing leads that fail validation in the Review Queue before they sell.

Quality control is handled via vertical/offer validation, we will route leads to Queue on validation passes, and route them to the Review Queue/Scrub Queue on validation failures.

Testing:

When posting leads to a hosted offer, they will NOT attempt to sell to your buyers if test mode is enabled.

You can mark leads as a Test a few different ways.

  • Enable test mode on the click(browser post method)
  • include ckm_test=1 in the post parameters(server/browser post method)
  • Submit :"ckmtest" (lower case) as any of the following fields: first_name, last_name, address(server/browser post method)

Host-n-Post Offer Type (HnP)

The Concept:

The concept of a Host-n-Post offer is to send the user directly to the Buyers website straight after they submit the form. Therefore we have to assess the lead, communicate with the (potentially multiple) Buyers and sell the lead with a few seconds of the submit, limiting functionality that happens at point of submission but potentially increasing the value of the user to the Buyer.

Defaults:

By default, Host-N-Post offers will only pay the Affiliate if the lead sells successfully to a buyer contract at the time of post.

If a lead does NOT sell successfully at the time of post, it is considered a HnP Failure. By default, HnP Failures are sent to the Scrub Queue.

Host-n-Post Offers are designed to sell Exclusively as we can only redirect the user to one Buyer Contract.

Deduplication:

Lead posted on Host-n-Post offer will deduplicate on the Offer level.

Validation:

Host-n-Post offers do not have a Review Queue. With this offer type, validation is limited to required field/valid format, except when using the AJAX Browser Post.

Any other type of validation failure will be treated as a success.

Testing:

When posting leads to a Host-n-Post offer, they will attempt to sell to your buyers if test mode is enabled, but the received and payout will be zero.

You can mark leads as a Test a few different ways.

  • Enable test mode on the click(browser post method)
  • include ckm_test=1 in the post parameters(server/browser post method)
  • Submit :"ckmtest" (lower case) as any of the following fields: first_name, last_name, address(server/browser post method.
