How to Add an Upsell Path on an Offer

This article will cover the following:

Upsells are an optional Offer that is displayed to a user if the user returns to the same Offer within the Click Cookie days set for the Offer after a Conversion has occurred.

Upsells are available on both Hosted Offers and 3rd Party Offers. For the purpose of this documentation we will learn the functionality pertaining to a 3rd Party Offer.


Add an Upsell

 

 


To add an Upsell:- Click the 'Add Upsell' button.
 - Select an Offer from the drop down.
 - Select an (image) Creative from the drop down.

  Note: the Offer that is chosen MUST have an Image Creative although this Image will not be used
 - Click 'Next'. At this time, click 'Next' again to bypass the HTML fields as they are only used in a Hosted Offer Upsell.


Other considerations with Upsells which are available on the campaign level.

  1. Disable Upsells: on a campaign basis, you can completely disable Upsells if you do not want them to function for that specific source of traffic
  2. Paid Upsells: like paid redirect, whether the Affiliate should be credited for the Upsell conversion. This is disabled by default.


How to implement an Upsell (script option)

Once your setup is complete, you will click on the "Generate Upsell Script" link

That will generate a new window with the script that needs to be placed on the thank you page. The script will display a banner ad.

 

How to implement an Upsell (link option)

There is also a link option for those clients who want to link directly to the Upsell Offer.

UPSELL LINK: http://trackingdomain.com/?uo=ORIGINAL_OFFERID&c=UPSELL_CREATIVEID&s1=&s2=&s3=&s4=&s5=

  • uo = ID of the ORIGINAL offer that all the upsell offers were added to (the 'parent offer' so to speak)
  • c = creative ID of the UPSELL image creative
  • sub ID's will be appended as usual

Also note that in order to do a direct link to the upsell the link should be formatted like so...

You can also add this link to the IMG source of an image pixel to make a click pixel.
