How CAKE Evaluates Lead Tier Pricing
When a lead is submitted, CAKE evaluates it against your configured tiers in order from the first tier to the last, stopping as soon as a tier's criteria are satisfied. This means tier order matters — place your most restrictive or highest-value tiers first.
For example, with three education-based tiers:
- CAKE checks Tier 1 first (e.g. highest education = High School). If the lead matches, it is assigned Tier 1 pricing and evaluation stops.
- If Tier 1 does not match, CAKE checks Tier 2 (e.g. highest education = Community College). If matched, Tier 2 pricing is applied.
- If Tier 2 does not match, CAKE checks Tier 3 (e.g. highest education = College/University). If matched, Tier 3 pricing is applied.
- If the lead does not match any tier, CAKE assigns the default Campaign payout.
Lead Tiers on the Lead Card
Once Lead Tiers are enabled, CAKE evaluates every lead against your tier configuration and records the result. You can see which tier a lead was assigned to on the Lead Card → Sale Info tab.
The tier assignment is always recorded — even if the lead doesn't match any tier — and the pricing applied follows the rules set on the Offer Contract (whether tier-based or standard Campaign pricing).
Lead Tiers in Reports
With Lead Tiers enabled, two new items appear in the Leads by Affiliate report:
- Lead Tier filter — Lets you filter the report to show only leads assigned to a specific tier.
- Lead Tier column — Shows which tier each lead was assigned. The column is blank for leads that didn't match any tier.
Because the Lead Tier column will be blank for many leads (those not matching a tier), it often makes sense to create a custom report view scoped to the verticals where Lead Tiers are actively configured.
If you've configured Tier Groups on your tiers, you can also view aggregated stats at the group level under Reports → Lead Tier Groups — ensure this report is enabled in your role permissions.
