Working with Creatives and Landing Pages in CAKE

This article will cover the following:

Overview

Creatives and landing pages are the building blocks of affiliate promotions. Creatives are the ads affiliates place; landing pages are the destinations those ads point to. Keeping both organized and up to date in CAKE ensures affiliates always have approved, working materials to use.

Uploading Creatives to an Offer

1
Go to Offers and open the offer you want to add creatives to.
2
Click the Creatives tab within the offer record.
3
Click Add Creative and choose the creative type: Banner, HTML, Text Link, or Landing Page.
4
Fill in the required fields. For banners, upload the image file and specify the width and height in pixels. For HTML creatives, paste the code directly. For text links, enter the anchor text and destination URL.
5
Set the status to Active.
6
Click Save.
Tip:
Upload banner creatives in multiple standard sizes — 300×250 (medium rectangle), 728×90 (leaderboard), and 160×600 (wide skyscraper) are the most universally used placements.

Managing Landing Pages

Landing pages in CAKE are pre-approved destination URLs that affiliates can select when generating their tracking links. This lets you offer A/B variations or market-specific pages without changing the offer itself.

1
In the Creatives tab of the offer, click Add Creative and select Landing Page.
2
Enter a descriptive name for the landing page — e.g. "US Version — Mobile Optimized".
3
Enter the destination URL.
4
Set status to Active and click Save.
Note:
When an affiliate generates their tracking link and selects a specific landing page, CAKE automatically routes their traffic to that URL instead of the offer's default destination.

How Affiliates Use Creatives

1
In the affiliate portal, open the offer detail page and scroll to the Creatives section.
2
Browse available creatives and review the type, dimensions, and preview.
3
Click Get Code or Get Link next to the creative you want.
4
Copy the code or URL — your affiliate tracking is already embedded.
5
Place the creative in your promotion.
Caution:
Use only creatives marked as Active. Using expired or unapproved creatives may violate your network agreement and can result in lost commission or account suspension.

Creative Best Practices

Best PracticeWhy It Matters
Always include at least 3 banner sizesAffiliates have different ad placements — one size won't work for all channels.
Keep creative names descriptive"Q3_US_300x250_CTA_SignUp" is far more useful than "Banner1" when managing dozens of creatives.
Mark outdated creatives as Inactive immediatelyInactive status prevents affiliates from downloading old creatives while preserving your records.
Test all landing page URLs before going liveA broken landing page means lost conversions and frustrated affiliates.
Refresh creatives for seasonal campaignsSeasonal visuals improve click-through rates and signal to affiliates that the offer is actively managed.
